Seller Onboarding and Vetting Process

At Compare.Parts, we strive to maintain a high-quality marketplace for both buyers and sellers. To ensure this, we follow a strict seller onboarding and vetting process. All sellers must meet the following requirements:

1. Seller Registration

Sellers must complete a registration form providing accurate details, including:

  • Name
  • Phone Number
  • Shop Name
  • Address
  • Company Name (if applicable)
  • Company Number (if applicable)
  • VAT ID (if applicable)
  • Email Address

2. Seller Verification

All provided information and documentation are manually reviewed by the Compare.Parts compliance team. Business registration numbers and VAT IDs are cross-checked with official registries. For individuals, proof of identity is verified against government-issued documents, and proof of address is reviewed to confirm authenticity. Sellers requesting fully verified status are notified within 3-5 business days regarding the status of their application, including any additional documentation required.

We offer two levels of verification:

  • Basic Verification: Basic verification is completed through social platforms like Facebook, Google Account, or X (formerly Twitter). Sellers with basic verification can list products but may not receive the same visibility as fully verified sellers.
  • Verified with Badge: Sellers who provide additional identification, such as company registration documents or proof of identity, receive a verification badge. This badge signals to buyers that the seller has been vetted and verified by Compare.Parts, increasing trust and visibility on the platform.

3. Product Listing

Sellers must submit their first product listings for approval. Listings should include:

  • Accurate product descriptions.
  • Clear product images.
  • Detailed specifications (e.g., size, color, fitment).
  • Pricing information.

Product listings by default go live on the platform, however they are reviewed by staff. Any products listed on the site which are incomplete or attempt to circumvent transactions through Compare.Parts may be suspended.

4. Ongoing Monitoring:

Seller activity is continuously monitored through a combination of manual reviews and user feedback to ensure compliance with marketplace standards:

1. Manual Monitoring: Our team reviews seller activity, product listings, and transactions to ensure compliance with our policies. This includes:

  • Checking product descriptions and pricing for accuracy.
  • Ensuring listed products meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing any flagged content or complaints submitted by users.

2. User Feedback and Ratings Buyers are encouraged to leave reviews and rate their experiences with sellers. Reviews are displayed on seller profiles to promote transparency and build trust. Sellers with consistent high ratings gain increased visibility on the platform, while those with poor ratings are reviewed for potential corrective action.

3. Flagged Issues Users can report suspicious activity or listings through the platform. All flagged items are promptly reviewed by our compliance team, and appropriate action is taken.

Non-compliance is handled through our three-strike policy:

Sellers who repeatedly fail to resolve disputes or engage in dishonest practices will face the following actions:

  • First Offense: A warning will be issued to the seller.
  • Second Offense: The seller’s account may be temporarily suspended, and any active listings will be paused.
  • Third Offense: The seller’s account will be permanently suspended, and they will no longer be allowed to list items on Compare.Parts.
