Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General Questions

As you can probably tell, Compare.Parts is more orientated around performance car parts. Our founder is a car enthusiast so its natural the site reflects that.

Whilst some of our partners will list consumables like wipers, spark plugs, car batteries etc, we're generally geared more towards the performance end of car parts, for car enthusiasts who like to modify their own cars.

There are a lot of sites which sell OEM parts or consumables, less less which focus purely on the performance end, and even fewer marketplaces who do what we do. This is the main reason we built the site in the first place.

There are a few different ways to search on Compare.Parts.

Search in Header

  1.  Put in what you are looking for in the search bar in the navigation, e.g. "tyres"
  2. Refine the results using the filters (facets) on the left hand sidebar. If you are on a mobile device you'll need to press the Filter button to bring up the filters.
  3. If its a marketplace item you can purchase directly on Compare.Parts, if its from our partners you'll be taken to their website to purchase.

Alternatives ways to find car parts
In the header you'll find three main dropdowns

  • Category - We've grouped our parts into categories and sub-categories. So again you can start with Tyres, and then when you are on a category page you can drill down into a sub-category like Track Day Tyres
  • Car - Under Car you'll find a long list of Vehicle Makes, After you've clicked on the Make of your Car, you'll be presented with a list of car models, then the website will bring up parts based on your Make and Model.
  • Brand - If there is a specific brand of car part you are looking for e.g. HKS, the you can access our most popular brands via the dropdown in the menu, or visit the All Brands page for a comprehensive list of brands on Compare.Parts

In short. Daily

We refresh our partner car part feeds daily, however Marketplace shops can list their car parts on the site after they sign up. So pretty frequently. We try to have a large range of products, but if there is something we're missing then please contact us and we'll look into it.

A large number of products listed on our website are Universal, which is the case with a lot of performance car parts like fuel pumps or oil coolers. We have a lot of vehicle specific parts such as car exhausts or body kits. If the part you are looking for is vehicle specific, please make sure you read the product description carefully to make sure it fits your car! You can always reach out to us if you aren't sure and we'll try to help.

If you aren't sure:

  • If its listed in the Marketplace you can contact the seller via the Seller Support
  • If its listed from our Partner feed then you'll have to click through on Visit Site, and then contact the partners via their website.

Relevancy is Key: When you search for car parts on our site, the results you see are based on how relevant they are to what you’re looking for. This means we prioritise showing you the parts that best match your search criteria, regardless of any other factors. With our instantsearch you'll see parts update dynamically as you type to help you find what you need, the same goes for the filter.

Marketplace vs Partner Feeds: Marketplace products are currently listed first on our website followed by Partner Feeds.

No Pushing of Commission-Based Parts: We’re here to help you make the best choice for your needs, not to push certain car parts for financial gain. We've all come across the fake AI generated product review blog posts pushing Amazon affiliate links, that's not us!

We believe in transparency and providing you with a wide range of car parts, we've not perfect and we're not a huge company with hundreds of employees, our goal is to make it easier for car enthusiasts like us find parts they need.

We tried to list as many cars as possible, but its not always possible. When it comes to Performance Car Parts a lot are universal, and those that aren't we don't always get information as to what make and model its suitable for. This is especially the case with Partner Feeds.

We use algorithms to extract vehicle information from product data but its definitely not perfect, we use AI to help with this, but for there are so many variances to how car parts are listed it gets really challenging especially when you are getting data from different companies. Google barely gets it right, and they are a multi-billion pound search engine!

AI technology is getting better and we're learning how to use it to help our users find parts.

We can definetely try, drop us a message. We can't make any guarantee's, obviously certain makes and models of cars we know better than others.
Where possible we encourage shops/sellers to list parts with any sales tax/VAT on the website.

However, with a global audience and depending on where you are in the world the amount of tax you pay, duties or import fees differs.
Trick question – neither

Buying Parts on Compare.Parts

If we ever got to a point financially where we could, we would. But for now, we'd have to pass the message on to the partners who list their products on our site.
In short, no. We list the cheapest prices we find for car parts. Although some partners may have coupon codes they'll share with us, which we'll include on the product listings, but generally we put the cheapest prices on the site.
That's harsh, but it could be for a variety of different reasons. If you've been unable to reach the seller, contact us and provide as much information as you can, and we'll reach out to them on your behalf to try and help out.
At Compare.Parts, we understand how important it is for you to shop with confidence. Here’s how we ensure your peace of mind:

Direct and Secure Transactions: When you buy on Compare.Parts, your transactions are securely processed either through PayPal. We know the % cut Paypal takes can be quite steep but for the buyers protection and with some parts costing thousands its better to be safe that S.O.L.

PayPal Buyer Protection: If you choose PayPal for your purchase, you're covered by PayPal Buyer Protection. This means if there’s an issue with your order, like if it doesn’t arrive or doesn’t match the description, PayPal can help sort it out.

Shopping on Compare.Parts vs. Seller’s Website: Now, here’s where things get a bit different. Marketplace products can be purchased directly through us, which is where we can lend a hand if you need assistance. Partner Feeds will direct you to the seller’s website to complete your purchase. In these cases, the transaction is between you and the seller, so our ability to step in is limited.

Our Commitment: Even though we can't directly assist with purchases made on other websites, if you are having trouble with them please let us know.

Becoming a Seller

If you want to sell car parts on Compare.Parts that's easy, head over to our Seller Registration page. There you'll learn about the different levels of selling in our Marketplace

  • Individual - This is more suited for individuals who want to sell brand new or pre-loved parts. This is pretty much self-service, you have to register as a user and then fill out the Seller Registration form. In most cases you'll be auto-approved but if something isn't quite right then we may drop a message to check you are who you say you are. This is to protect our users and hope you'll understand that is the reason why.
  • Managed - This is more suited for established ecommerce stores, we'll need a product feed from you that's updated regularly and we'll list your parts on our site.
  • Automated - This is for advanced sellers who have product feeds through an Affiliate Network Partner like Awin, CJ or Tradedoubler. We'll get your feed and then we'll process it with other partner feeds on the website.

For more information, visit our Seller Registration Page

We try to keep fees simple and fair. For individual sellers, there's no fee to list your parts – we only take a small commission when you make a sale.

Managed and Automated sellers might have different fees depending on how your product feed is set up and maintained.

Check out the Seller Registration page for more info on fees based on your setup or contact us and we can run through options with you.

Yes, you can sell to customers worldwide. We have a global audience, so be sure to list accurate shipping times and costs in your product description so buyers know what to expect.

To make sure your products get found, it's important to include detailed descriptions, good quality images, and clear pricing. Since a lot of parts are specific to certain car models, you’ll want to include as much info as possible – make, model, compatibility, etc. The more detailed your listing, the better chance it has of getting found in search results and bought.

You can easily update your stock levels, change prices, and manage listings through the seller dashboard. For Managed and Automated sellers using a product feed, the inventory will update automatically as long as the feed is kept up-to-date.

We want to make sure your parts get in front of the right buyers. Our search results prioritise relevance, so making sure your listings are accurate and detailed goes a long way.

We also offer options to boost visibility like featured products or paid promotions, but the key to getting noticed is solid product info and details.

All Marketplace sales go through PayPal for buyer protection. Once a sale is confirmed, PayPal will transfer the funds to your account. For Managed or Automated sellers, the payment process depends on the agreement you have with your ecommerce platform or affiliate network.

You can create discount codes or offer promotions on your products through the seller dashboard. If you’re a Managed or Automated seller, just include any promotional codes in your product feed, and we’ll make sure they show up on your listings.

You’ll be responsible for handling returns and refunds based on your own store policy. Make sure to clearly state your return policy on your listings to avoid any confusion. For purchases made via PayPal, PayPal Buyer Protection applies, so you’ll need to follow their guidelines if there’s a dispute.

You handle your own shipping, so it’s up to you to set your rates, shipping times, and carrier options. Be clear in your listings about where you ship to, how long it’ll take, and any costs involved.
